I Will Still Carry On...

See You At The Crossroads....

Hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend so far. As for me, I've been having a pretty rough week. One of my good friend's father passed away from colon cancer and 2 of my childhood friends were involved in a head on collision which took their lives. Please keep them in your prayers.

Larry Rugg Cannell (1953-2008) beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully at home among family and friends on May 16, 2008, after a courageous fight against colon cancer.

Larry, son of William and Ila Cannell of Johnstown, NY, excelled in academics and athletics. He graduated with honors from Northern State University (South Dakota) in 1975, having played four years of collegiate football. He earned Master’s Degrees from Texas A&M and Arizona State University. He taught, coached, and impacted the lives of many students and athletes. From rising at sunrise to cook his athletes breakfast to funding trips for national events, Larry was a driving force in the development of many young men and women’s lives. He was pivotal in the development of after school and community based programs wherever he lived. During his career he taught and coached at Albion, NE; College Station, TX; Leavenworth, KS; Tempe HS, and an Assistant Principal in Gering, NE. Larry left education to serve as a Special Agent in the FBI in Louisville, KY.

For the past ten years, Larry has been part owner/operator of the Scottsdale Pavilions Shell Service Station. This family owned business grew and thrived using the philosophy that hard work and helping others is the way a business should be run. Larry called this practice “Going to church everyday.”

Larry loved life and is loved by many people who survive him including his ‘devoted girls’ Nori (wife), Paige and Megan (daughters) and son-in-law Ian. Family vacations, holidays, time spent at the Heber house, golfing, running and enjoying the outdoors, spending time with best friends Jim, Gerry, Tom, Chuck, and Jack, and having a beer with the Pavilions crew were among his most treasured memories.

Jay & Jason Hernandez aka Twin Dragonz (1982-2008)

The first thing I think about when I reminisce about Jay and Jason Hernandez is the Fab 5. You see the Fab 5 consisted of myself, Ike, Eddie G and Jay & Jason Hernandez. We were 5 kids from Chandler, AZ who hung out everyday, terrorizing Hendrix Junior High at will. During those awkward phases of junior high, all 5 of us were in love with the same girl! Her named was Mary Jane. That is how we eventually met one another, competing for the same girl. Every single day we'd meet up with her and hang out with her for hours upon hours. We were so in love with that girl that we all gave in a shared her equally.

When we got to high school, Ike and I attended Dobson High School and Edgar and the Twinz attended Hamilton High School. During those years I had played basketball, Ike was a baseball player, Edgar was a lady's man, and Jay and Jason were rappers. They were also known as the Twin Dragonz. Even though we attended separate high schools and had different interests, the Fab 5 couldn't be broken up.

One thing I've always noticed about Jay & Jason is that they were always motivated in their music. Their lyrics got better and better and so did the production. Its a shame that they will not be able to continue making music. One of their main goals were to put the southwest on the map. Their music can also be heard and downloaded on deciphacity.com.

Another thing I've always noticed about their lives is that they always shared something. Whether it be a bedroom, a car, or a vision for their music, whatever they had, they shared it. Unfortunately on the night of May 23rd, 2008, they shared the same fate, a head on collision on the freeway. They were heading to Rocky Point to meet up with their mom for Memorial Day weekend, when they were involved in the fatal car accident that had ended their lives at the ripe age of 25 years old. R.I.P. Jay and Jason. We will miss ya'll.

Slowest Week Ever

And This Shit Right Here....

What's good with all my people?! Sorry for the delayed post but I've been hella busy jugglin work, social life, and my newly acquired night class. I say that this is the "Slowest Week Ever" because I think that my weekend was so full of wild and crazy activities that the daily grind seems as though its moving in 28 hour long days! But let me get you up to date on my wild weekend courtesy of my guy Dewitz.

Recap:
"Great Weekend---
Started off Friday at the spot, went to Red Owl, listened to Herb N
Life, rocked it a little bit.. Drank the stiffest gin n tonics anyone
has ever had... Ever! Said fuck it, grabbed a can, feet to the
pavement... Went to Indian Bend to give money to the Indians!

Rise and shine, took the Suzuki back, and dipped with Snix to the
pool, (picked up 72 beers) blazed up a tri-tip, that was super oiishi!! Took a power nap, brushed off the boat shoes, and hit the club with Techno K aka Mr. Club Baker- Changster cock blocked and then we dipped- stopped to the music
to clear some bullshit- came home puffed half a philly!!

What's Really Good With The World Today?

I'm sure by now most of you have heard about the Earth shaking 7.8 magnitude quake that hit central China yesterday. My cousin is in Beijing right now and as soon as I heard what was going on yesterday morning, I emailed my cousin to see if he was ok. He got back to me in a hurry and told me that he was cool. He said that he hardly felt it but his coworkers said that they could feel the building sway.

Furthermore I was watching CNN this morning while eating a bowl of multi-grain Cheerios when they started talking about Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar. I mean, I knew what was going on over there but they started showing pictures of children who passed away because of the disaster. The pictures looked like the children were simply sleeping; sleeping in rivers on their backs like dead fish. The U.N. estimates that 63k-100k people have died because of it. Their military is also giving out rotting food for their people and keeping the good stuff for themselves? They really need our help out there.

My heart goes out to the families and the victims of these natural disasters. I know that it may sound a bit corny, but what hits me the hardest are the kids. They never had a chance. Sorry for putting up such a depressing topic on the blog but I really think that we should try to help the cause. Please consider making a contribution for the causes. Whats a night's worth of going out to the clubs or bars? You can make a big impact by donating that money to a great cause. I urge you guys just to think about it. Thank you and please keep the people of China and Myanmar in your prayers.

Set It Off!

"Sleepin with women that sleep wit some Hornets."

Chris Paul aka CP3 has been lightin up the league this year like stoners at a 420 convention. Which NBA point guard does his game resemble? An upgraded Steve Nash? A.I. with more vision? Isaiah when he was leadin a group of Bad Boys? Kevin Johnson in his prime when he was averaging 20 and 10? Who knows?! But what I do know is that dude is a monster and he is currently giving the Spurs the "business" in the Western Conference Semifinals. Burn Spurs, burn.

Jackie Guerrido. She makes the weather real interesting, that's all.

Feliz Cinco De Mayo!!!

My most memorable Cinco De Mayo would probably been in 2004 when I finished all but two shots of a bottle of Jose Cuervo. Started making margaritas all afternoon. Had a couple of shots and the next thing I remember was tripping and falling over a pool skimming pole and my main man Kellen helped me up. Instead of thanking him I tried to fight him because I was heavily influenced by the Tequila Monster (sorry K, it was Jose's fault). I guess then my roommate Z came and picked me up and the only words that I could mutter were..."I hate Cinco De Mayo, I'm not even Mexican!"

*Please drink responsibly and watch out for those drunk drivers.

R.I.P. Eight Belles.
